Odds + Ends Theatre Company is a new company dedicated to showcasing theatre in all its forms for the widest possible audience imaginable. We work to break down the social and technical barriers that keep people away from the theatre. We work to create diverse, exciting, and high quality productions with the lowest possible barrier of access.
Odds and Ends is committed to creating an artistically enriching and inclusive experience for all of our artistic collaborators and audiences. We strive to create a community centered on respect and continual growth and improvement. We welcome all voices, and work to make necessary accommodations for those who historically have been marginalized in artistic spaces.
We promise to work towards anti-racism, anti-misogyny, queer liberation, and disability liberation through our artistic work. We will not tolerate bigotry in our creative spaces.
We acknowledge that our efforts will be imperfect. We promise to continually grow and reevaluate our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives on a quarterly basis to ensure that we are always improving.
Our goal at Odds and Ends is to create theatre for ALL.
In future seasons, select productions (not just our children's shows!) will feature at least one "relaxed" performance, where house lights will be kept on, audience members are welcome to move and leave if necessary, and we will modify any bright or flashing light cues and any loud or overwhelming sound cues. We will provide live captioning for at least one performance and hope to eventually include ASL interpreted performances as well as audio descriptions.
We hope that this will accommodate the widest range of disabilities and neurodiversity's as we can, and we will continue to grow and expand our accessibility features as we grow and expand our company. If you have any questions (or suggestions!) about our mission for accessibility, email Artistic Director Lily Kerr-Jung at lkerrjung@oddsandendstheatre.org
Odds + Ends operates on the land of multiple native nations. We recognize and honor the native and indigenous peoples of the Chicagoland area – the Three Fires Confederacy, Potawatomi, Odawa and Ojibwe Nations, as well as other Tribal Nations that know this area as their ancestral homeland, including the Menominee, Ho-Chunk, Miami, Peoria, and Sac and Fox. The region we work and live in was and continues to be home to diverse Native communities.
